Leveraging the power of Odoo, a comprehensive suite of business applications, Afaq Foods not only addressed these challenges but also managed to optimize their processes significantly.


Point of Sale (POS)

Afaq Foods' primary goal was to streamline their POS system for their upcoming "Call Me Margherita" branch. The business desired a modern, efficient POS system that accommodates customized orders, prints receipts complete with unique branch logos, integrates with delivery service providers, and provides extensive reporting features.

Odoo’s POS application came to the rescue, offering robust customization and extensive reporting. A unique sales journal was created, and each final product was given a Bill of Materials (BoM) that included raw materials and packaging components. Add-ons and removals were handled by configuring them as individual products, with their BoMs reflecting the changes to the original recipe. Odoo’s POS also allowed differentiation of order types through creating corresponding tables, enhancing their reporting capabilities.


Purchasing and Transfers Flow

Afaq Foods' procurement process involved approval from the procurement manager and a unique purchase order for each warehouse/branch, even for the same vendor. Furthermore, the company sometimes bought directly from branches instead of the central kitchen, requiring flexible inventory transfers and management.

Using Odoo's Purchase app, the procurement workflow was standardized and an approval rule was set up. Unique Purchase Units of Measures (UoMs) were created to handle diverse purchase quantities, enhancing operational efficiency. In addition, a location called Central to Dirty bird and a route that pulls from this location to Dirty bird were created, further streamlining their inventory management.


Operations Flow

In the central kitchen, operators requested raw materials from the central warehouse to manufacture semi-finished goods. The finished product cost was fixed based on the components of the BoM.

Odoo's Manufacturing app was a game-changer for Afaq Foods, allowing operators to efficiently request raw materials and automatically track costs associated with various work centers.


Restaurant Management

Afaq Foods required an efficient way to manage their four restaurant branches, with the ability to track orders, handle payments, account for tips, post journal entries, and handle refunds, among other things. 

Odoo's was utilized to create individual POS restaurants for each branch, and the PoS products were linked to their respective sales journals. Odoo also allowed Afaq Foods to configure payment methods for third parties like Talabat, facilitating seamless transactions.


Accounting and Payroll

Afaq Foods' accounting needs were wide-ranging, from reconciling payments to generating profit and loss statements. Also, each branch needed to be treated as a cost center.

Odoo's Accounting app, with Anglo-Saxon accounting, automated many of these tasks. The Expenses app was utilized to register operational and administrative expenses. Payroll needs, such as managing salaries, loans, allowances, and GOSI rules, were efficiently handled by Odoo's Payroll app. Each branch was set up as an individual cost center, making financial reporting and analysis much easier.
